One of the main technologies Hoyt uses is split limb technology. The split limbs are lighter, quieter, and produce less vibration. Being lighter makes it easier to lug through the woods to your favorite hunting spot, or down the tournament trail. The split limbs are also much more durable than the solid limb technology other bow manufacturers use.
More on the durability of split limbs, controlled tests show that solid limbs start to fail around 25 dry fires. They start to crack where the V-groove is where the cam is mounted. Cracks are also found at where the limb mounts to the riser.
Split limbs dont start to fail until around 1000 dry fires. It is because of the simple fact that if you remove the problem areas, you wont have any more problems! Now it definitely not suggested you go dry fire your bow. These tests were run under controlled lab conditions.
